Hello Scholars!

Here we are at the weekly appointment with wave 2 of Dungeonology, yes this week of Saturday! We will try to resume the normal Thursday appointment after the Christmas holidays, for these weeks of December (as you have noticed) the day of the weekly update may vary due, but we assure you that although the day may change, the weekly update will be published.

Today we present one of the most anticipated characters, not a student, but none other than one of the best professors of Rocca Civetta, the famous (and infamous) Dr. Enrico!

Archeology is the search for fact...not truth

This reckless and messy professor can be used as both a Scholar and a hilarious Boss, but today we're taking a look at his Scholar version!

Since he teaches Archeology, but his great dream is to teach also Dungeonology, Prof. Enrico has been invited to the competition and therefore like all the other participants he will have to discuss a thesis on this dangerous but stimulating subject!

In this version Enrico will be able to count on his fantastic skills, Famous will allow him to discard Notoriety trick cards instead of sacrificing Students (for any reason), Lockpick Master will allow him to pass through any type of door without having to possess the required cubes; finally, with Anthropology he will be able to use a Divination to collect Civilizations cubes.

In his Exalted version will become Really Famous, which will allow him to discard Notoriety and Exploration Trick cards instead of sacrificing his precious Students; and with All-Rounder he will be able to use 2 Divinations to collect any type of cube ... WOW!

Nothing shocks me...I'm a Scientist

Thanks also to its very balanced characteristics and a combination of cubes that is quite easy to obtain, for Enrico, peering at the Thesis card will be very fast and will therefore be able to immediately concentrate on obtaining the right cubes to reach the coveted chair of Dungeonology!

In the next update, we will see what Enrico will do in his Boss version and how he will be able to put our Scholars in difficulty with the ability to get into trouble!

See you next week with a new update where we will also talk about ETA and production status!

Join your Covenant!
over 5 years ago – Fri, Dec 04, 2020 at 09:05:44 PM

Hello Scholars!

In this week's update (exceptionally on Friday) we will let you take a look at the new Students Covenants included in Wave 2!

With the new Student Covenant rule, you can use the 4 new types of Students in your normal games without involving the character (Scholar or Boss) to which they are connected, so if for example, you decide to use the Lambda Students you will not be able to play with Claudio the Hunter for that game.

Apart from this limitation, you can decide to play any number of Covenants in any given game, thus increasing variety and fun!

The Students of a Covenant replace the standard ones (but not the Omega ones!) Up to a maximum of 3 per type, so in a game where all 4 Covenants will be used, during the game, you will reach a total of 12 Covenant Students in the University bag.

4 new Covenants are almost ready for your games!

The Covenant Students are taken from the Bonfire and can be sacrificed to pay the costs of the Trick cards just like the normal Students but each of them can also be sacrificed to activate the power of the Covenant.

For example, you can sacrifice a Student of the Lambda to pay the cost of a Trick card or to place a Trap token in any area of the Dungeon, instead, a Student of the Zeta can be sacrificed at any time to remove a Stunned token or a Jinx card from your Scholar.

The addition of these new Student Covenants will increase your strategic choices during a Dungeonology game, thereby increasing match variability and fun!

Obviously, they will also be usable if you are using the light version of the rules (which we talked about in the last update) as if it were an additional optional module!

What do you think? Are you ready to join a Covenant?

That's it for today! See you next week with a new update!

A look to the Future
over 5 years ago – Fri, Nov 27, 2020 at 06:35:04 PM

Hello Scholars!

as promised in the last update, we convinced Danilo & Diego to let us take a look at their work on the new rulebook they are working on and which, as we announced a few weeks ago, will be included in Wave 2 of Dungeonology!

The rewritten work is progressing quickly and in the images, you will be able to see some sneak peeks of the new rulebook (still in Italian since the translations will start once it is fully completed).

Revised Rulebook sneak peek!

The first thing we can tell you is that the new Rulebook will be much more "focused" than the previous one (without dispersing too much information), which will allow us to reduce the total pages by almost half, making it easier and faster to consult than the first version. Thus going to correct one of the problems you have reported to us.

This new version will obviously contain all the faqs and clarifications we have collected in this first year of Dungeonology's life so that even the most controversial game situations can be easily solved without too much stress.

But the tastiest news is the one we are about to describe!

Despite its very "cartoon" aspect, Dungeonology proved to be a very technical game, suitable for experienced players but a bit difficult for casual players or for younger ones.

Receiving the feedback of players, who asked for a lighter version of the rules, to allow even less experienced players to enjoy Dungeonology, D&D are organizing the new rules so that it can be modulated according to the characteristics of the group that is playing it.

The basic rules will contain a much more accessible version that will allow you to enjoy the game without taking into account the more complicated rules, which instead will be organized into 4 modules that can be integrated as you wish to increase the level of difficulty.

4 Modules for all kind of players

The modules will be:

Boss - To introduce Boss rules. In the basic game, you can play without Boss, for faster games.

Dangerous Zone - To use the Zone effects. In the basic game, you will be able to enter the zones regardless of their effects.

Maximum Alert - To use Panic cards. In the basic game, the end game sequence will be completely different than using Panic cards.

Main Effects - To use the main effects of the Trick Cards, since only secondary effects can be used in the basic game.

Of course, this will not be a mere "let's remove the hard rules" but there will be new rules for the "light" version to adapt to these changes.

Using all 4 of these modules you will get a version of Dungeonology identical (but improved) to the one you already know, but by inserting them as you wish you can scale the level of difficulty according to your needs!

We are very proud of these changes and as soon as we have an English version of the rules we will submit it to the community for further feedback before production, as well as the fact that you will be able to immediately play with the new basic and advanced rules.

Last note, given the smaller number of pages of the new rulebook we are considering integrating it with an appendix that will contain the Rocca Civetta 'box rules, in order to have all the new rules in a single exclusive rulebook for backers only. We are currently evaluating some factors and will let you know how we will proceed soon and, of course, your opinions regarding this choice will be welcome!

That's all for today! See you in a week for a new update!

Dungeonology: Valhalla!
over 5 years ago – Thu, Nov 19, 2020 at 11:15:52 PM

Hello, Scholars!

Here we are at the usual weekly appointment with Dungeonology!

Today we will resume the presentation of the new Wave 2 Scholars, and as you may have guessed from the title of the update, today's protagonist could only be Ingrid, the Valkyrie!

The student who comes from the North

Ingrid has come from cold Norway to the warm Italian lands to study the creatures that inhabit dungeons to prepare for the harsh trials that her land holds, and following the noble origins of her people, she brings up the traditions by self-proclaimed Valkyrie!

Although it has not yet hunted any Troll, in Rocca Civetta she immediately became very popular also for her great resistance to alcohol, defeating all the males of the university in exciting drinking competitions, and currently holds the title of "loudest burp "of the country.

Ingrid model and Cards!

Playing with Ingrid will prove to be as fun as her loud and contagious laughter!

In case Ingrid doesn't have Students available, with Popular she will get one at the beginning of her turn. Her great charisma will allow her to find Socal Trick Cards at any time thanks to her Mead Toast skill.

Finally, thanks to Unstoppable our favorite Viking will be able to cancel the effect of a Trick Card just played, discarding 2 Social cards from her hand; this ability together with Mead Toast will always make her dangerous for opponents both in defense and in attack!

In its Exalted version, Mead Shower will enhance the effect of Mead Toast, allowing you to keep all the Social cards (instead of one) among the 5 that you have revealed, plus Ingrid will get the Valhalla's Feast ability, with which you can discard up to a maximum of 3 Social cards and collect as many Information cubes!

Raise our glasses to Ingrid!

As you will have understood the game mechanics of this student it's really based on the Social Trick Cards; if you know how to manage them and use the skills that allow you to obtain them at the right time, you will make it really hard for your opponents. In addition to this, Ingrid has excellent characteristics, and taking a look at the Thesis Card will be quite easy for her.

Playing with Ingrid, however, you will have to beware of the Zones and Bosses effects, since she has no ability that allows her to avoid them.

What do you think? Are you ready to drink ... ahem ... I mean exploring with Ingrid?

For today it's all dear scholars, we'll be back in a week with new previews, and if Diego & Danilo will allow us, even a first look at the new Revised Rulebook ;).

See you soon!

A life of Research
over 5 years ago – Fri, Nov 13, 2020 at 12:15:31 AM

Hello Scholars

In this week's update, we will take a break from the new Scholars and take a look at one of the additional features of Wave 2: the Research cards!

These cards can be added to your regular DNG games adding new elements and more fun!

At the start of a game, you will need to draw 3 of these new cards and place them so that they are visible to all players.

These will be the 3 initial Research cards and, being public, they can be completed by all players.

Each Research will require requirements to be completed and the first player to meet the requirements of a public Research will be able to claim it, taking the card and placing it next to his Noteboard.

When a Research card is claimed, you must immediately draw another one so that there are always 3 public Research cards in play.

Each Research will reward the player who claims it with additional victory points to be redeemed for the final count to determine the winner of the game!

These Cards will add new spice to your games and you will have to change your strategies from a standard game. The race for a Research will put even more players in competition who will have to be smart and fast to prevent an opponent from blowing the research you had your eyes on ... but ruin another player's plans by taking the Research out from under his nose, it will be really fun (for you of course!).

What do you think? Are you eager to throw yourself into new "Research"?

Before saying goodbye and giving you an appointment next week, a small update on the production of wave 2.

The work on the Molds of the wave 2 miniatures was finished after a long revision process that lasted a little longer than expected also due to the peculiarities of the DNG miniatures. Mass production will begin shortly, but above all, very soon we will receive the first printed copies of all the miniatures and it will be our pleasure to show them to you to make you appreciate the long work done on them!

Furthermore, from next week we will start the final work on the graphic layout of cards and manuals and here too we hope to show you a lot of good stuff soon!

That's it for today, see you in a week!

Stay safe!
